Ron Suslak, Queens Area Local President, also serves as President of the
APWU – New York State. APWU-NYS held its Constitutional Convention this year
during the first week of May at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale Long Island.
President Ron Suslak presided over the convention where seventeen (17) national
officers attended the convention and addressed the delegates. This included National
President Jonathan Smith. President Smith attended the entire convention and gave
an inspiring talk to the convention delegates.
The APWU-NYS Convention also marked new beginnings. Our own Queen Area
Local VMF Shop Steward Jhevaughn Langley was elected APWU New York State Motor
Vehicle Director. Hicksville Local President Courtney Service was elected the new

elected the new Legislative Director. All three of these new Officers are reaching out to
all the locals in the state in furtherance of the mission of their position.
At the ceremony swearing in all of the APWU-NYS Officers and Directors, special
awards were presented by President Ron Suslak to Queens Area Local Executive Vice
President Brian Porter, APWU-NYS Secretary Neysa Coleman and Brooklyn Local
Representative Shanell Padmore for their untiring and exemplary service to the state
organization.
