EXECUTIVE BOARD RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF ALL CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
By now you should have received your constitutional amendment package in the mail. If you have not received it, please call the Union Office in Ozone Park at (718) 845-8113 and ask that a duplicate be mailed to you.
The package contains 31 resolutions to amend our Queens Area Local, APWU Constitution and Bylaws. The Executive board drafted the amendments and received approval from members at two (2) consecutive membership meetings. In accordance with our Constitution and Bylaws we are now asking for approval of such amendments via referendum vote of the entire membership.
The Executive Board felt that the Amendments were needed to clarify and streamline some of the provisions of the Constitution and to correct some outdated language. Additionally, the amendments to increase the monthly allowance of Officers and Stewards are well within the means of the Local’s financial budget and will not necessitate a dues increase. This would be the first increase in allowances in over twenty years.
The Executive Board recommends approval of all the amendments and would like to remind all of our members to mail the ballot in time for the January 26th deadline.
