Statement on Governor Bush’s Support For Social Security Cuts
Updated On: Apr 30, 2015
The following is a statement from the executive director of Social Security Works in response to Governor Jeb Bush’s comments regarding Social Security.
“Raising the retirement age is a benefit cut of around 6.5% per year raised, and the age is already going up from 65 to 67,” said Alex Lawson, executive director of Social Security Works. “Governor Bush, like the other Republicans contemplating running to become President, is not concerned with the best interests of the American people. His proposal is part of a courtship of Wall Street billionaires designed to fill his campaign coffers; as such, it will be rejected by the American people, including Republican primary voters.”
